6 April 2011 AA News SE Regional Forum draws AAs Members discuss anonymity and leadership in AA About 500 AAs gathered to discuss service and other topics at the South- east Regional Forum, Dec. 10-12, 2010, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. "I really experienced a great weekend of spiritual growth," said one district committee member (DCM) from the region. Represen- tatives of the General Ser- vice Board of AA and sta from the General Service O ce and Grapevine were in attendance to share experience and to respond to questions and sugges- tions from members of the Fellowship. ere were also presentations by regional delegates on top- ics such as "Anonymity in a Wired/Wireless World" and "AA Leaders: Born, Taught or Discovered?" No formal actions are taken at forums. ey are organized by the AA Gen- eral Service Board and are open to AA members or to anyone interested in AA, according to GSO's website, www.aa.org. Forums originated in 1975 at the suggestion of the late Chairman of the General Service Board of Trustees, Dr. Jack Norris (Class A nonalcoholic). Forums are designed to enhance communication and participation among AA members, the General Service Board, and sta and directors from GSO and the AA Grapevine. "Forums o er a meeting place to ask questions and spark new ideas to help carry the AA mes- sage of hope to the still- su ering alcoholic." General Service Board forums are are open to AA members or to anyone interested in AA. e Grapevine welcomes reports on state conventions, workshops and other major AA events for AA News.
