10 June 2011 AA News Class A trustees appointed to the General Service Board Nonalcoholic members may represent AA in public Two new nonalcoholic (Class A) trustees have been appointed to the General Service Board of AA: Michele Grinberg, J.D., of Charleston, W.V., and John Fromson, M.D., of Waban, Mass. Michele, an attorney, has experience in health care policy, employment relations and the work- ings of non-profits. She was the principal author of 2008 West Virginia legislation that permitted physicians and others to voluntarily work on their own alcohol and other substance abuse recov- ery without disciplinary action from their licens- ing boards. “I am a long-time friend of Alcoholics Anony- mous,” she stated in an introductory letter to the GSB. “I have attended numerous open meet- ings of AA and weekend conferences. I have been privileged to speak at local AA conferences and other events.” John is an associate director of postgradu- ate medical education in the department of psychiatry at Massachu- setts General Hospital. He has worked with impaired physicians and has helped colleagues in the medical profession who have become over- whelmed by alcoholism and addiction. “I have seen first hand the absolutely devas- tating effects that this disease can have on an individual’s personal and professional life,” he wrote. “Appointment to the General Service Class As Michele Grinberg and John Fromson.
