Grapevine : August 2011
standing and totally surrendering to a higher power I should write a God Wanted Ad. I feel a desire to share this because I can only keep whatIhaveifIgiveit away! I will be taking my 9-month chip on Friday and love my sobriety and what AA has given me. I have only recently been able to fully surrender and make God a part of my life. anks for everything Grapevine, you have been a great part of my recovery. I am blessed. Tamara R. Langley, British Columbia Back to basics It is with great sorrow that I write this: for many years the Grape- vine has been a meeting in print. Today it is so far away from the funda- mentals of AA we are changing our Grapevine meetings to book study meetings. One of the groups is only about 20 people, but we represent 300 years of sobriety (my home group), and we feel that race, religion, sexual orientation and any other issues have no place in a magazine put out by AA. We would like a much smaller loss. But here's what really stunned us---there would be no loss, no deficit, if each of the 93 Areas in North America added just 35 new print subscrip- tions this year, or 50 of the new digital magazine subscriptions. You could feel a sigh of relief go around the room. at's all it would take? We can do this. I can do this. I can get my home group to get another subscrip- tion for our lending library of Grapevines. I can give a subscription to a sponsee or a newcomer. A single subscription to the Grapevine can make a real di erence---and not just on a corporate ledger but in the life of an alcoholic who's still su er- ing. I know, because it's made a huge di erence in mine. Enough with the doom and gloom. Let's get to work! Jeff W. Maplewood, N. J. God wanted Iheard once in a meeting that if I was having trouble under- I heard I should write a God Wanted Ad. aagrapevine.org 5
