Committees met to dis- cuss common challenges regarding activities such as literature publishing, com- munications, and working with other countries. Work- shops explored topics such as raising the awareness of the Concepts and how to work effectively with Tradi- tion Seven. Zonal meetings are held around the world every other year, alternat- ing with the years when an AA World Service Meeting takes place. Since the next World Service Meeting will be held in New York in October 2012, the XVII European Service Meeting will be held in Frankfurt in 2013. Intergroups and central offices go West One hundred four different offices met for four days in Tucson The 26th Annual Inter- group/Central Office A.A.W.S . Seminar took place in Tucson, Ariz., from Sept. 29–Oct. 2, 2011. The event at- tracted approximately 145 Intergroup/Central Office personnel from 104 different offices throughout the U.S. and Canada. Some were paid employees and some were volunteers, and a wide range of back- grounds was represent- ed. Also in attendance were staff and manage- ment from the Grapevine and General Service Offices, and the chair of the A.A.W.S . Board. Three workshops ran concurrently through- out the weekend, with topics such as prudent reserves, interpreters, communication with the General Service struc- ture, websites and e-mail, handling outrageous phone calls, attracting volunteers, singleness of purpose and local ar- chives. The participants also approved a new format for the Seminar website, where informa- tion about past Seminars and shared experience is gathered.
