sary. After I was given my coin, she raised her hand and spoke to the en- tire group. With tears running down her cheeks, she thanked everyone in the room for being there for me and said she was “so proud of me.” She spoke of how she never knew whether I would be alive from one day to the next. When she was finished, the en- tire group began to clap. She hugged me, and I sobbed like a baby. Soon I will celebrate my two-year anniversary. I am now a student at the University of Toledo, carrying a i was six years sober and had met a cute guy from the East Side of Milwaukee. We started dating and about three months later he asked me to go to a young peoples’ conference in Blooming- ton, ill., called iSCYPAA. i asked him “... what ... e ... paa?” i immediately talked to my sponsor since it didn’t sound like real AA. Needless to say, i went. it was illinois State Young People in AA. Due to my boyfriend’s connections, i was put on the security crew and was told to monitor the elevator as the people arrived. i was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect. You could hear them run- ning and laughing. i had never seen so many young people in one place before.
